Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly
in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history. General James Wolfe, a man of Kent, led the assault on Quebec during the French wars. The confrontation started with a three month siege and ended on 13th September 1759 with a battle on the Plains of Abraham. In a daring raid Wolfe and his men rowed across the St Lawrence river before scaling the “unclimbable” cliffs to the west of Quebec to draw the French into battle. The English triumphed but just as the battle was won, but not before Wolfe died from a shot to the chest. |
